Vancouver!!!! Day 1

This is the first time we've ever went to Vancouver Canada. I heard a lot of cool things about it and everyone says its beautiful. Anyways, when i go on vacation, my favorite thing to do is putting my running shoes, my travel backpack and walking everywhere. I love the walk because you always run into something interesting that you'll miss by driving. Also, i think you truly see and experience the city when you take it slow and enjoy the moment. The journey you to the destination your reaching is a lot more fun to me than finally being there.. at least thats how i feel.

The cool thing was before the summer Olympics in Beijing, we were able to go to china a few months before and see all the cool Olympic things that the city put up. Now Vancouver is the host city for the Winter Olympics and we're here a few months before the game.

Thats the view from our hotel room and thats me looking at the Vancouver tour book while arlene was unpacking. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver in downtown.

Our first day we plan on hitting Gransville Island, Canada place, Gastown and China Town..

Granville Island

On the way to Granville island we ran into this old church... for some reason i'm very interested in old churches and how they are designed. I decided to go inside and it was beautiful. i felt like i was in a church at the Vatican. i loved the design.

here are so more pictures of us walking to Granville Ilsand.. it was around a 2 mile walk..

when we got close to Granville island, we had to take this little ferry over.. it was pretty cool

Granville Island is like Pike's Place in Seattle. it has a public market and lots and lots of eateries.. it was awsome.. we spent all day there!

That was fun.. now to head off to Gastown..

Gastown and China Town

On the way to Gastown we ran into Canada place... this is were the imax theater, cruises, shopping and some nice scenery of the bay..

Gastown is the first settlement in vancouver, which is a historical town. it has cobblestone streets and a really nice feel of the past.

There's a steam powered clock... i guess its famous. everyone took pictures of it so we did too.

Next up is China Town... China town is like the one in San Fransisco... but this one at night they have a China Town street market where they setup tents and sell food and nicknacks.. Just like Temple street market in Hong Kong... we ate a bunch yummy finger foods.

Gastown and China town is on the opposite side of Granville island.. i think all together we walked around 15 miles... my feet was hurting so much it went numb.. but it was soooo much fun... in the evening we ate at a really nice restaurant but i dont feel like uploading the pictures because im too tired... arlene should be sending a link out with all of our pictures on it soon.

Vancouver Day 2!

Yesterday we had a really cool day walking around the city... today is my kind of day. we're going to be doing all the out door activities... Taking the sky tram to Grouse Mountain and walking the Capilano bridge. Vancouver is a very outdoor type of city.. lots of trails, hiking, running, mountain biking, kayaking and much much more.. things i love to do... Also we had personal tour guides to show us around... Arlene's cousin Ellen and Mei.

We took the sky tram to the top of the mountain which is 4,100 feet. it was a 15 minute ride with awsome view's of Vancouver.

at the top of the mountain there's zip lines.. grizzly bear habitats, shows, eateries and lots of outdoor acitvities.

I think we spent 5hrs up in Grouse Mountain.. now its time for the Capilano bridge.... Arlene is "SUPPOSEDLY' afraid of heights.. but for some reason she was running and jumping on the bridge all day today... the Capilano bridge is 230 ft from the bottom of then canyon and very wobbly...

In the Capilano park area.. there a bunch of things to do... mini suspension bridges, eco tours and tree houses..

That was a fun full day and im exhausted... we ended the evening eating dinner at a pretty nice chinese restaurant...i'm too tired to post those pics... Overall Vancouver was an awsome place.. there's way to much to do to cover everythin in an extended weekend. We're definitly coming back to do more stuff.. i love the outdoor feel of the city. Everyone here is really friendly and everything is very earth concious. The city is also very clean and organized.. what a great place...
